Real World Records Classic Album BUNDLE OFFER
Available 23 July 2017
We’re delighted to present a new series of 180-gram vinyl reissues. While some have been out of print for many years and others are making their vinyl debut, each album is a cornerstone of the Real World catalogue.
This special Bundle Offer allows you to purchase all seven albums for one great price.
All albums come with an mp3 digital download card.
Included in the Bundle Offer are:
Peter Gabriel’s compilation of the sources that inspired his album Passion. One of Real World’s first releases in 1989, it’s an intriguing snapshot of what the label would become. Half-speed mastered – a process designed to enhance clarity and detail – by the same cutting engineer who has worked on the recent Peter Gabriel LP re-issues.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Qawwal & Party – Shahen Shah
Among Real World’s most emblematic artists, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was known as Shahen-Shah-e-Qawwali: The Brightest Shining Star in Qawwali. Each vocal performance on this record, which was originally released in 1989, is utterly captivating.
Geoffrey Oryema – Exile
Originally released in 1990, Exile introduced the world to the struggles of singer-songwriter Geoffrey Oryema, exiled from Uganda at a young age. Contributors include Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan – Mustt Mustt
This 1990 record has become a classic. “This was a seminal album for me and completely changed the face of British music forever … features one of the best remixes of all time from Massive Attack.” Nitin Sawhney
Ayub Ogada – En Mana Kuoyo
Ayub’s disarmingly simple arrangements, warm vocals and delicate playing of the nyatiti, an East African lyre, make this a beautiful and sensitive album. Originally released in 1993, the album is available here for the first time on vinyl.
Papa Wemba – Emotion
Papa Wemba was the undisputed King of Congolese Rumba Rock; a flamboyant and outspoken musician who took his soukous rhythms from the streets of Kinshasa to the world. Emotion was originally released in 1995 and is available here for the first time on vinyl.
Martyn Bennett – Grit
From one of Scotland’s most exciting and daring musicians, this double LP will feature two bonus tracks: Martyn’s remix of Peter Gabriel’s Sky Blue, and Mackay’s Memoirs, the final recorded work before Martyn’s death in 2005. Originally released in 2003, this is the first time the album has been available on LP and we couldn’t resist making Grit a yellow vinyl!
